Unlocking The Mystery, & Embracing The Unity

It's sad that we still live in a time where people are still being mistreated or judged based on the color of their skin, gender or even beliefs. instead of their character and the content of their heart. The fact of the matter is that these behaviors are taught and not based on personal experience. We show and tell our kids the way they should act. Though they do not understand or see the things as we do, we are responsible for how they receive the people not like them in the world. Children are exposed to many things in society and in school. What is sweet about it is they see people not color or religion. It is not until they come to us that we begin to implant the toxins.

When I was growing up and still to this day I have wanted and embraced learning about different cultures. I choose to listen to all music, try different foods etc. This is something that I have since taught my children. It is so easy to stay close to what is familiar, be one with people that are just like you. You never really know what beauty that is locked inside of someone else, if you do not take the time to embrace them.

We can learn a lot from our children when it comes to acceptance of  the unknown. In order for them to not miss out on life, and to not harbor and anger toward others, it starts with us as adults teaching them to get to know the person and how they treat them. instead of making assumptions on what they feel they know and what they see. I teach my kids to embrace all things because you never know what the joy you can find in the different

So let's Unite with one another because you never really know the power you can gain from unlocking the mystery that is within.

  1. Along the same lines we need to let our kids pursue what they're interested in because you never know what talents lie in them if you steer them where you want them to go. Thanks for the great thoughts!

  2. I agree with you 100% I do this with my kids. My 7yr son plays golf, he came home one day and said he wanted to try so we signed him up. sadly because we a African American other African Americas looked at me strange, I had to explain there is more out there than basketball and football, I want my kids to do what ever they want to do.

  3. I have personally witnessed children who refused to talk to me because the color of my skin....they were in Kindergarten...the only conclusion I could come to was that they were taught this at home. It really saddened me...I would never think to teach my children to dislike others for something they can't control. I wish more people would teach their children respect for others...our world would be a much kinder place!

  4. I was raised to love all cultures - it was a very strong message at my school and as I got older, I was really appreciative that it was part of our curriculum. Not because my family thought any different, but because we celebrated multi-culturalism at school everyday it made me see the world with open arms and a lot less bias.

    1. I love the reaction of my kids when they learn something new. Like my two year old loving the bobby bones show on the country music channel. And she sings the intro lol

    2. I totally agree with you. Children get all or most of their perception of people from their parents. I believe it is important to surround yourself and your children with different cultures. So they can realize that it is not the color of a person's skin that defines them, it is who they are inside.

  7. I think parents need to set a good example to their children because they do copy us and apply what we teach.

  9. I think children learn acceptance of others at home. We as parents have to be careful not to judge others too quickly and teach acceptance by accepting those different then ourselves. Everyone has a lesson to teach.
