It's sad that we still live in a time where people are still being mistreated or judged based on the color of their skin, gender or even beliefs. instead of their character and the content of their heart. The fact of the matter is that these behaviors are taught and not based on personal experience. We show and tell our kids the way they should act. Though they do not understand or see the things as we do, we are responsible for how they receive the people not like them in the world. Children are exposed to many things in society and in school. What is sweet about it is they see people not color or religion. It is not until they come to us that we begin to implant the toxins.
When I was growing up and still to this day I have wanted and embraced learning about different cultures. I choose to listen to all music, try different foods etc. This is something that I have since taught my children. It is so easy to stay close to what is familiar, be one with people that are just like you. You never really know what beauty that is locked inside of someone else, if you do not take the time to embrace them.
We can learn a lot from our children when it comes to acceptance of the unknown. In order for them to not miss out on life, and to not harbor and anger toward others, it starts with us as adults teaching them to get to know the person and how they treat them. instead of making assumptions on what they feel they know and what they see.
