Healthy Habits, Create A Healthy LIfe...

It's New Year and so many people say that they want to eat better, and even exercise more. This is a good habit to start. Though we adults are big on this resolution and change. Now sit and think how many times  do think of the health the whole family. with so many childhood diseases related to health and eating habits. It is wise to create better habits for children. One thing about children today they are affected by the use of electronics. This has taking the place of actual outside play. Growing up the best part of the day was playing outside until it became dark. Now kids will sit with their cell phones, video games and computers and not think to go outside to play. With this new way of living, they also rather not eat healthy. This generation want everything fast and quick and are slowly creating more health problems for when they become adults. With childhood diabetes and other illnesses growing at alarming rates, it is wise for us to create better habits for our children. Going back to the days when we use the food pyramid or the colors to create a well balance diet. I know for me I have a family history or various diseases that I had to change the way that I eat to try to prolong what is possible. In doing so I have to make sure that I prepare a certain diet for my children as well. I know that they do not want to eat this way all the time but if we have good habits now, they will carry it over when they are on their own with their own families. I cook a lot and I make sure that it is healthy and as balanced as possible. I have limited the amount of empty calories I prepare. Though it will be hard it is worth it in the long run for the family as a whole. So adopt a new way of eating because it will truly impact the way the family lives now and in the future.

  4. I really think it's important to show our kids to eat healthy food. It's ok to treat yourself once in a while but a healthy lifestyle is really important.

  6. I am pro healthy living but I think blaming technology is an easy scapegoat. Every piece of electronic equipment has an off button and someone who shelled out $$$$ to purchase it. Perhaps the adults need to be mindful of tech usage instead of throwing all tech under the bus...tech isn't the problem, the way it's used can be an issue.

    1. I agree we parents have to be the example we have an xbox with the Kinect so they can get up and move, but it is dusty because we don't let them sit in front of it. and when they do we have a time limit.

  7. I believe that we need to develop boundaries in our lives for our kids and ourselves. One of the keys to healthy living is moderation and balance. We should seek it in every aspect of our lives.

  9. We are very very strict about my sons usage of electronics. He's only 2 but its like ingrained in him or something! We encourage him to be outside, discovering nature climbing on the play ground and enjoying Gods creation! The only time he really gets tv or electronics is when I cook dinner about 30 mins because my husband is at work and I can't make dinner and play with him at the same time. We are such an active and healthy family that its so important for us to pass that to our son.
